  • The Belfast Rotary Club is looking for host families for an exchange student (or two) for the 2010-2011 school year.   Two families are needed for each inbound students.  We know that one student is coming from Romania.  A host family is asked to provide a safe, comfortable living environment for 5 months (mid to late August through late January, or late January through late June). The host can be married or single, and they may or may not have other students in the home. Monthly stipends are given to the student for extra expenses.  There is significant involvement with Rotary throughout the year with a Rotary counselor assigned to the student and a number of trips the student can attend throughout the year.  For more information about this exciting opportunity, please contact Su Wood at: suwood@myfairpoint.net

  • Research shows that active children do better in school.  With baseball, softball, tennis, and track in full swing, 204 of our students at BAHS are proudly wearing the blue and gold uniforms in contests throughout the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference!  Play-offs and league championship meets are fast approaching.  Good luck to all of our student-athletes!  As a comparison, the fall 2009 season had 200 individuals engaged in a fall sport; the winter season of 2009-10 included 190 students competing as a BAHS athlete.

  • Got a student driver on the honor roll?  Over 200 BAHS students are honor roll students for the 3rd quarter, including 33 with all A's, and they can save money on their car insurance.  Honor roll students can qualify for good student discounts on their car insurance!!!! Just keep a solid GPA and you could save a few hundred dollars.  Parents of honor roll students are also entitled to a good student discount.  If you have a teenage driver with good grades, you may be in line for big savings.

  • Want to help save the world? Need to get a hair cut for prom or graduation? You can do both at the same time. Local salons are sending hair to help soak up the oil in the Gulf of Mexico. The salons participating are New Wave Salon, Revival Salon, Unique of Boston, Cliff's Hairstyling Salon, The Upper Cut, and Lisa Nichols. Get a hair cut between now and June 1st to help the cause
