Class Rules
HEALTH CLASSROOM RULES
CLASSROOM CONDUCT:
        No hats, food, electronics.
Discussion guidelines are on the white board. Please read these.
A detention will be given for class tardiness.  An exception to this is
the last class of the day.  When your class is the last of the day,
I will give you 2 extra minutes to go to your lockers before
class to get ready to go directly to your bus if you need to.
Please do not sit on the furniture.  (It will collapse!)
Also, please do not put your feet on empty chairs.  Shoe and boot
dirt has ruined some studentsĂ clothing in the next class.
Any student who writes on a desk will receive 2 detentions.

MAKE-UP WORK:
If you are ill, you must get any missed notes from another student and
any missed handouts from me. Your best bet is to have a contact
on your AT or a study hall who will get missed notes for you.  Our
tests and quizzes will be based mostly on class notes.
You have two weeks to make up any missed tests or quizzes.  After two
weeks, you will receive a 0.
If you fail a test or a quiz you can take a make up with me if you come
and see me within one week of receiving the failing paperback.
I will not contact you regarding making up failing grades, it is
your responsibility. Please see me for a pass or have your study hall
teacher call me and send you up for make-up.
GRADING:
You must have a notebook and a pen or pencil for each class.
You will have several quizzes each quarter and fewer tests (2-3).You should
expect homework 2-3 times a week and should be aware that one of your
homework assignments is to STUDY for a quiz or test.  Studying is home-
work!  Your graded homework is very important and will affect your
quarter grade.  Please make sure that you understand the assignments and
ask questions if you are at all unsure of what is expected.
I  may be doing notebook checks and grading in some classes.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

The following rules and/or policies are the studentĂs guide to the requirements of the Physical Education Department. They are meant to provide students with an understanding of what is expected of them before, during and after class and should be the general routine for all classes.
P.E. WEAR:
  • The following will be required for all students enrolled in regular physical education class. All clothing shall be free of any unsafe attachments. (chains, tabs, belt loops, etc.) Shirts must cover mid-sections.
  • Acceptable physical education class clothing would include:
T-Shirt/Sweatshirt
Shorts/Sweatpants/Wind pants
Swimsuit: Females-one piece / Malesñshorts w/tie up
Sneaker ñ w/ laces tied up
  • Participation without proper P.E. wear generally will not be allowed.
  • Incomplete or no P.E. wear will result in a zero for the day.
  • No excuses are accepted for being unprepared for class.
  • It is suggested that your name or some identifying mark be placed on all articles of clothing, including sneakers, used in P.E. class. Each year students “lose” their clothing and/or sneakers. It would help the instructors and students in retrieving any “lost” item if they were easily identified.
  • There should be no interchange of clothing between students.
  • P.E. clothing should be cleaned on a regular basis.
  • Students should be prepared for inside and outside activity and/or a gym activity if in a swimming unit.
LOCKERS:
  • All students are required to have a padlock for their PE locker.
The PE Dept. have padlocks available for purchase - $5.00 each.
  • At the beginning of the semester, students will be assigned a locker to be used to keep P.E. items only.
  • Do not change lockers from the assigned one. If an assigned locker is not working properly, the instructor will assign a new one to you. Belongings will be removed and put in the lost and found if found in a sportĂs locker. (Lrg. lockers).
  • Do not share lockers or combinations/keys to your locks with anyone.
  • Keep your lockers locked when you are not in the locker room getting changed.
  • If you have valuables do not leave them in your locker. Give the valuables to the instructors to put in their office for safekeeping.
  • If you have money on you, give it to the instructor for safekeeping.
  • Do not cause damage to the lockers or the locker room. Do not slam, twist, kick, hit or do anything else that may cause damage to the lockers or the locker room. Treat lockers and other locker room equipment (hair dryers, etc.) with respect.
  • Locker rooms are not open during the school day for any students, except during their P.E. class period. DO NOT keep books, lunch money, jackets, etc. in your P.E. lockers. DO NOT leave backpacks & duffle bags in the entrance area to the locker room.

Locker Room Conduct and Procedures:

  • A minimum of noise should prevail in the locker room(s). Students should go directly to their lockers, change for class and report to their assigned areas.
Do not use the locker room to socialize.

  • Students are to change and report to their assigned area before the late bell. If you are not prepared and ready for the taking of attendance you will be considered tardy and graded accordingly.
  • At the conclusion of the dayĂs activity, students will have ten
minutes to become prepared for their next class. Students are
responsible for arriving at their next class on time.

  • There will be no running, pushing, shoving, and snapping of towels or other potentially dangerous activity in the locker room(s).
  • All students are encouraged to shower after their activity. Turn all showers off after showering.
  • No glass containers are allowed in the locker room(s).
  • Pick up your clothing after class. Lock it up or take it home.    All items including clothes, towels, backpacks, duffle bags, etc. not locked up will be removed from the locker room(s) daily.
  • Do not “borrow” someone elseĂs clothes.
  • Do not open or “browse through” other lockers.
  • Do report:
  • Any damages done to your locker and/or the locker room to the instructor and/or office.
  • Any cases of theft to the instructors and/or office.
  • Any broken glass, hair dryers, etc. to the instructor and/or office.
  • Any unauthorized people, in the locker rooms, to the instructor and/or office.
Grading:
All students will be graded according to their own abilities.
Factors that will be considered in grading all students may include any or all of the following:
  • Attendance
  • Changing-Up
  • Preparation & Participation
  • Effort
  • Attitude & Sportsmanship
  • Cooperation
  • Leadership
  • Skill Test
  • Knowledge Test
The factors above may be considered each day that a student is in class. The student can gain points towards their grade according to how they meet the above factors. A student can earn an “A” by being in class, prepared, participating to the best of their ability (effort), demonstrating good sportsmanship, cooperating with fellow students, and doing well on tests.

Make-Up Policy:
Days absent from class, if excused for any reason, must be made up to gain credit for that day. If a missed day is not made up, the day will be graded as a zero for that day.   If a student is in school, but gets excused from participation, then that day must be made up to gain credit. An excused day, not made up becomes a zero for that day.
Any unexcused absence from class will result in a zero for that day. Accumulated zeros may result in the student being dropped from class. The instructor(s) will determine if a class missed is excused or unexcused.

Note:
In most instances of injury, an alternative activity can be found for the student. For example, if a student has a broken leg, they can go to the Fitness Center to work on their upper body, rather than have to make up class at a later date.
